Before this session was recorded I had begun to realize that the analude’s just scale, sliding notes, and foot volume control could be combined to make unusual sounds. Here I am beginning to explore how these sounds interact with each other, aided by a reverb/delay unit. This exploration continues in a different way in Part 2 (track 10 in Volume 2).
Instruments: Mono electric analude; analog delay/reverb unit; harmonic distortion.
Recorded: 1981 in Ottawa.
Graphic: a spectrogram of 8 seconds of the finale of Part 2. Dark blue is silence and orange is sound, with time along the horizontal axis and frequency along the vertical axis.
An exceptional album, with cuts ranging from very good to superb. JP's lyrics and delivery are unique and interesting, and the other musicians all excellent. A mature album by a true live performer. Steven Rowat
You wonder why your relationships fail? You hate your father? Perhaps you would let someone with searingly tragic honesty reveal to you some of the ways those two things can be related? If so.... Steven Rowat
Global changes are displacing bodies and minds (think: Orlov's "Reinventing Collapse".) T.D. expresses both levels well, and he does so through music that is honest, enjoyable, and memorable. Steven Rowat
