Around the time of this recording I had been learning with interest about the nerve dialog that takes place in all of us between the left and right halves of our brain, across the corpus callosum. The analude here provided me with a different way to have this dialog: the piece was done after the analude had been physically modified to carry three separate pickups, allowing several ways of splitting the strings into left and right output. Because the two sides could now be made so different (for example, as here, high strings on one side, low on the other, with reverb/delay on one and harmonic distortion on the other) it was easy to evolve personas for the sides and have them speak to one another during play.
I would have been monitoring in headphones while playing and headphones are probably the best way to hear what occurs.
An exceptional album, with cuts ranging from very good to superb. JP's lyrics and delivery are unique and interesting, and the other musicians all excellent. A mature album by a true live performer. Steven Rowat
You wonder why your relationships fail? You hate your father? Perhaps you would let someone with searingly tragic honesty reveal to you some of the ways those two things can be related? If so.... Steven Rowat
Global changes are displacing bodies and minds (think: Orlov's "Reinventing Collapse".) T.D. expresses both levels well, and he does so through music that is honest, enjoyable, and memorable. Steven Rowat
